QUEENS WAY PLACE
New Apartment Block in Town Centre Development Area
Yeovil | Somerset
The proposal for this scheme is to erect a four-storey apartment block comprising 24 flats with associated parking and landscaping on a 0.44-acre car park site in Yeovil Town Centre.
The proposed building varies in height to follow the natural contours of the site and to break up the massing of the four-storey block. The design has evolved into a series of merged blocks, allowing for a selection of materials to be utilised on different façades to visually break up the blocks and create vertical lines on what is a very horizontal development.
Colour is introduced with a rain screen cladding system that brings focus to particular areas of the façade. These areas of cladding are located on East-facing façades that have prominent public view, over entrances and in spots where division is needed between large areas of render and brick. This creates four main focal areas of cladding as shown in the main model image.
