Change of use and conversion of Grade II Listed Mill buildings
Merriot | Somerset
Boon Brown Architects have been appointed by Zero C to deliver this scheme from post planning to completion. The proposal comprised alterations and conversion of the redundant mill site to create 45 no. residential units; including 22 no. new build dwellings, demolition of factory buildings including portions of listed buildings and altered vehicular access to Tail Mill Lane.
The Tail Mill site dates back to the 13th century, originally constructed as a corn and grist mill but was converted to a sail cloth textile mill during the 1820s and from the late 1930s, until recently years was used as a plastic moulding factory.
The Grade II listed Mill buildings was in poor condition after many years of neglect. Several of the listed buildings within the site have historical interest and because of this Boon Brown will ensure particular attention is given to the works in the listed building to sustain and enhance the significance of Tail Mill.
