What we do

Boon Brown is an established, client-focussed, creative, award-winning Design Practice with an enterprising commercial mindset and experienced technical knowledge. Since our formation in 1986, we have concentrated on fulfilling our Client’s brief with energy, passion and a determination to maximise development opportunity and value. We deliver projects with pragmatism and viable solutions

Over our 30+ years, we have grown to a 60-strong design team, with a diverse portfolio of interesting and challenging projects in a wide range of sectors that cover residential, retail, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, elderly care and conservation works. The practice has gained a reputation for our quality of architecture and completed projects. We have grown a strong client base to include major national, public and private sector developers, housing associations and commercial institutions; many of which remain as repeat clients.

We invested significantly in BIM and Revit training under the guidance of our BIM Manager and are delivering complex collaborative designs to BIM level 2.

Our core values

The value we offer our Clients is based on 30+ years’ experience and at our core remains our ethos to be objective and pragmatic, whilst maintaining creativity and maximising development potential. We constantly evolve to protect the business, growing and expanding in a strong, competitive industry, whilst ensuring we continue to offer our client base the expertise they demand.

Multidisciplinary approach

Boon Brown commenced business in 1986 with the partnership of Clive Brown and Richard Boon and grew to become a respected Architectural Practice, based in the Southwest but operating nationally. In 2014, the company opened the London Studio, capitalising on the growth in new appointments in London and the Southeast and this part of the business has continued to strengthen and grow.

In 2005 the company expanded to provide a Town Planning Consultancy in response to the increasing challenges of obtaining successful planning decisions. The practice has always been proud of its high success rate in securing planning permission for often challenging sites. Having in-house expertise to advise on planning policy and strategic opportunities, to present confidently to public and officer consultees, and to negotiate with planning authorities, has significantly improved the holistic design service Boon Brown provides.

Continuing to diversify the business, in 2015 the opportunity arose to add landscape architecture to the design skillset of the Practice. With the growth in large scale urban master planning projects, the ability to bring the strategic architecture and landscape designs under one single appointment has significantly benefitted project coordination and delivery, design quality and the technical understanding of both the architects and landscape architects working together. The landscape team has recently incorporated The Adams Loxton Partnership and offers a comprehensive landscape service including: Master Planning, Landscape Design, Landscape Visual Impact Assessments, Arboriculture and Ecology.

Boon Brown designed our flagship care home, Cooksons Court in Yeovil. They provided the professionalism and artistry to produce a stunning building which continues to wow visitors and customers alike. But what is also important is that they listened to our requests, resulting in a building which fulfils its requirements both as a comfortable home for our customers, and as an efficient workplace for our employees. We would not hesitate to use Boon Brown for future projects.
