The client purchased the site with planning permission for 44 apartments and Boon Brown optimised the layouts to deliver 50 one, two and three bedroom apartments with an increase in habitable rooms.
The development comprises two cores with mixed private and social housing tenure distributed around each. The rear of the development forms a podium slab over the basement car park and ground-floor accommodation to provide amenity space for the residents. Private amenity space is provided by enclosed roof terraces and balconies. The cladding is gold copper shingle, chosen in liaison with the local community to introduce a vibrant contrast to the street.
The site sits adjacent the railway line and is exposed to high ambient noise levels, resulting in the carefully detailed facade to satisfy planning legislation and noise break-in.
