Admin Support & Planning Assistant


BoonBrown is an established multi-disciplinary design practice encompassing architecture, landscape architecture and town planning from offices in London and Yeovil, Somerset.

Working across a broad range of development sectors, BoonBrown offers a comprehensive and collaborative design service to help deliver client’s needs from concept to construction.


To provide admin support and planning assistance to the BoonBrown team to ensure the office runs smoothly in an organised manner with all admin/financial tasks kept up to date along with supporting the planning team with the process of company projects navigating the planning system efficiently.

Key duties:
  • General administration
  • Assisting with finance processes
  • Updating of company Deltek system and maintenance of supporting documents/spreadsheets
  • Reception cover/duties
  • Assisting Practice Manager with ad-hoc tasks
  • Researching all aspects of planning policy/legislation and the planning history of future development sites
  • Establishing local government validation requirements for planning applications and obtaining fee proposals from external consultants as necessary
  • Providing support to the Directors in the preparation of a varied range of planning applications including outline, full and reserved matters applications, prior notifications, certificate of lawful use and discharge of planning conditions, including the initial drafting of supporting documents such as planning statements and statements of community involvement etc
  • Providing support to the Directors in the project management of planning applications, including liaison with all members of the consultant team, the local planning authority, third parties and other stakeholders in the planning process


  • At least 5 No. GCSE passes (or equivalent) including mathematics and English.
  • Experience of working within the development sector – either within private practice or local government would be ideal but not essential.
  • Admin and/or finance experience
  • A valid UK driving licence.

  • The ability to work as part of a team and also to show initiative for lone working when required
  • IT competency – Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Good Attention to detail
  • A professional manner and personal appearance
