BoonBrown was commissioned by Taunton Deane Borough Council and Knightstone Housing Association to design a flexible retirement scheme with 66 apartments and 12 supported housing apartments.

Parmin Close comprises a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership tenancies and offers independent living with the ability for residents to access flexible care and support by an on-site care team.

Communal facilities have been placed at the front of the building to ensure that they gain daily sunlight and provide a safe and pleasant space to enjoy. The planned communal cafe and lounge areas aim to support increased community involvement by providing residents and the wider community with a place to socialise and interact.

The design is un-apologetically contemporary, promoting a distinct character for the development, which nevertheless follows on from nearby developments to create continuity in styles.

The design retains a sense of residential identity befitting a 21st century flexible retirement scheme.
