Overview
Pennwood Grange is a residential development in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire, delivering 259 new homes within a landscape-led neighbourhood. The scheme brings together two contrasting housing typologies within a single neighbourhood, creating a development that feels diverse, established and visually distinctive. From contemporary homes defined by bold forms and dark cladding to traditionally inspired houses influenced by Buckinghamshire's vernacular, the scheme delivers a varied streetscape that avoids the uniformity often associated with large-scale residential developments.
Technical challenge
Designing contrasting house types is one thing; delivering them successfully on site is another. The project demanded a high level of technical coordination to retain the integrity of each architectural language while meeting programme, buildability and quality requirements. Complex material junctions, changing façade treatments and carefully considered roof forms all required detailed technical solutions to ensure the finished homes reflected the original design intent.
Delivery
BoonBrown's role at RIBA Stages 4-6 focused on turning concept into construction. Through detailed technical design, rigorous coordination and ongoing support during delivery, we resolved the interfaces and construction details that define the quality of the finished buildings. The result is a neighbourhood where craftsmanship and technical precision enhance the architecture, creating homes that are as well considered in their construction as they are in their appearance.
